Group RP’s Mentoring Strategy: Much More Than A Training Tool!

Jean-Philippe Caron, Partner at Group RP, and Julie Bourgeois, Account Director for Performance Recruitment (Group RP division), offer their point of view on corporate mentoring in this video produced by Mentorat Québec, a non-profit organization whose dedication to promote a mentoring culture in Québec is going strong since 2002. Video in French only.

Over the past five years, Group RP has grown exponentially. Even if this exceptional situation has put us on the right track to achieve our ambitions, we have also faced many human resources challenges along the way.

Providing quality coaching and continuous training adapted to our employees’ needs has always been a priority for our organization. However, training and integrating new employees was recently more challenging since we had to make up for a significant lack of time in this context of growth.

THE SOLUTION : CORPORATE MENTORING

In January 2021, we implemented a mentoring program that fits perfectly into our organizational culture and reflects our core values: teamwork, having fun, self-improvement and integrity.

How does it work?

All hired employees are assigned two experienced mentors (an account manager and a recruiter) who provide ongoing support with a long-term perspective. The objective is to facilitate the integration of new employees, to help them progress quickly and to help them achieve their professional objectives within Group RP. This program also makes it possible to provide feedback on a regular basis, based on respect and learning.

THE BENEFITS

There is no doubt for Group RP that corporate mentoring provides many benefits that go beyond our training needs, such as:

  • Improving employee performance and engagement.
  • Promoting the development of skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Empowering employees and help solidify their sense of belonging to the company.
  • Maintaining a positive work culture based on collaboration, exchange, and trust.
  • Increasing employee retention rate.
  • Allowing supervision by colleagues who are active recruiters and headhunters, enabling mentees to develop their full potential.

Today, mentorship is an integral part of our corporate culture. We even assigned additional mentors to diversify how best practices are shared within the company. In a market where good candidates are becoming increasingly rare, we believe that mentoring is part of the solution to build a strong, cohesive, and mobilized team!
